20. THE CUNNING CONQUEROR: LITTLEFINGER’S BIG PLANS
There are not more than a handful of characters on Game Of Thrones who are slimier and creepier than Petyr “Littlefinger” Baelish. Yes, he did assist Sansa Stark during the “Battle of the Bastards” and his influence ultimately saved Jon Snow and the wildlings from an ugly demise at the hands of the Bolton army. But then again, Petyr Baelish is the reason the Starks are in this muck in the first place, isn’t he? His manipulations got Ned Stark killed, which is something Sansa has yet to uncover, and he sold Sansa to the putrid Ramsay Bolton knowing full well what that heinous sadist would do to her. If you look at it that way, this was the least Littlefinger could do to even things out.
But, we all know Baelish had a plan when he allowed the knights of the Vale to assist Jon Snow in his cause. And his motives were revealed when he proposed to Sansa during the season finale. Baelish has always wanted the Iron Throne, and with Sansa a true heir to Winterfell, his chances have never been higher. But will Sansa bend to his trickery again? The thing about Lady Stark is that she has always been one to admire positions of great power. She has always wanted to be Queen, to rule over the land, and now that Ramsay is the equivalent of a bowl of Pedigree dog slop and Jon is the King in the North, her heart once again aches to have great, unbridled power over everything. And Petyr Baelish has already set his plans in motion by asking her if she’d rather see an illegitimate Stark rule over Winterfell. How will Baelish maneuver his way around the fact that Jon is actually the son of Lyanna Stark, if the message were to ever get out? And how will Baelish slither is way into Sansa Stark’s future? For better or worse, the devious Littlefinger is here to stay, and his presence will set the course for a great many events in Season 7 of Game Of Thrones.
